Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about share.cards.
For Visitors (Scanning a QR Code)
share.cards is a permanent digital business card platform. Instead of handing out paper cards that become outdated, you create one digital profile and share a single QR code. Anyone who scans it always sees your latest contact information — no printing required, no outdated details.
No. Anyone can scan a QR code and see the profile owner's public information (name, photo, and any fields marked as public) without creating an account. However, to request access to private contact details, you will need to register a free account.
Private contact details are protected by design. The profile owner needs to know who is requesting their information before approving access. Registration requires your name and a profile photo so that the person you're contacting can identify you — just like a real-world introduction.
After scanning the QR code, tap "Request access to contact details" on the profile page. If you're not logged in, you'll be prompted to create a free account first. Once logged in, you can send an optional message to introduce yourself, then submit the request. The profile owner will be notified by email.
There is no set time — it depends entirely on the profile owner. They receive an email notification immediately after you send your request. Some owners respond within minutes; others may take longer. You will receive an email notification as soon as they respond.
If the profile owner denies your request, you will receive an email notification. The profile page will show a "Your request was not approved" message instead of the request button. You will not be able to view their private contact details.
For Profile Owners
After registering, go to your Dashboard and click "Create profile". Add your display name, bio, and a profile photo. Then add your contact fields (phone, email, address, links, etc.) and choose which ones are public or private. Your QR code is generated automatically and is ready to download and print.
Free accounts include 1 profile. Pro accounts include unlimited profiles — for example, you could have a separate profile for your professional contacts and your personal network.
Public fields are visible to anyone who views your profile — no account or approval required. Private fields are hidden by default and only revealed to people you explicitly approve. Use public fields for information you're comfortable sharing broadly (e.g. your work website), and private fields for sensitive details (e.g. personal phone number, home address).
Tags are labels you create to group your contact fields (e.g. "Work", "Personal", "Emergency"). When approving an access request, you can grant access at the tag level — for example, share only your "Work" tag with a business contact, while keeping your "Personal" tag private. Free accounts include up to 3 tags per profile; Pro accounts have unlimited tags.
Yes — this is one of the core features of share.cards. When you approve an access request, you see a checklist of all your tags and fields. You select exactly which ones to share with that specific person. Each person you approve can see a different subset of your contact details.
Regenerating creates a new QR token. The old QR code stops working immediately and cannot be recovered. Any printed business cards or stickers with the old QR will become non-functional. People who already have approved access to your profile are not affected — they can still view your contact details via their dashboard. Only use this feature if you believe your current QR code has been compromised or widely distributed without your consent.
Go to Dashboard → Requests, find the approved request, and click "Revoke access". The person will immediately lose access to your private contact fields. You can re-approve them later if you change your mind.
Yes. Go to Account settings and click "Delete my account". You will be asked to confirm by typing your email address. Deletion permanently removes all your profiles, contact fields, and access grants. Active subscriptions are cancelled immediately. This action cannot be undone.
Billing
Yes, there is a free tier that includes 1 profile, a QR code, unlimited access requests, and up to 3 tags. No credit card required.
The Pro plan ($4/month or $39/year) includes unlimited profiles, a custom static URL (@username), unlimited tags, and email support.
Go to Dashboard → Billing and click "Manage subscription". This takes you to the LemonSqueezy customer portal where you can cancel your subscription. After cancellation, your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period, then downgrades to Free.
If you are unsatisfied within the first 7 days of a new subscription, contact us at support@share.cards and we will arrange a full refund. After 7 days, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Privacy & Security
Only people you have explicitly approved can see your private contact fields — and only the specific fields you chose to share with each individual. No one else, including share.cards staff, has access to your private fields in the normal course of operations.
We take security seriously. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access tokens are single-use and expire after 60 minutes. Passwords are not stored — we use passwordless magic link authentication. Private fields are never exposed to unauthenticated users or users without an approved access request.
No. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your data is used exclusively to operate the share.cards service. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
